Emmanuel received his PhD from the University of British Columbia and the University of Groningen. He researches obstructive lung disease, inflammation, and fibrosis using human-relevant in vitro models.

Tony is studying immune-structural cell cross-talk using bioartificial models of the airways.

Anthon is a Master’s student with a background in Biomedical Engineering from UVic and field-scientist experience at CELLINK. His research focuses on bioprinted lung-on-a-chip models, co-supervised by Prof. K. Mitra at Florida Institute of Technology.

Clara’s work involves optimising the pipelines and techniques for establishing patient-derived organoid models.

Noorat is conducting a critical review comparing preclinical in vitro biomimetic models with in vivo animal models used to study lung diseases.

Christina received her PhD from UBC and is developing 3D biomimetic and bioartificial tissue models to explore how immune cells interact with structural cells and the extracellular matrix.

Filsan is developing a multi-organ-on-chip platform of the gut-lung axis.

Anita completed her Biology Honours degree studying biomarkers and candidate genes for radiation-induced lung disease. Her MSc expands this work under the co-supervision of Dr. C. Haston.

Tak’s research involves establishing triculture organoid models to understand the effects of environmental exposures.

Anais assists in managing the lab and contributes to critical reviews of lung-model research.
