2026 - Sep

  • Dr. Osei shared insights from his academic and research journey during a fireside chat at the Young Professionals’ Summit in Kelowna.

  • The Osei Lab received a Lung Health Research Grant as part of a collaboration led by Dr. Yasir of the Centre for Heart Lung Innovation, UBC-V, with Dr. Osei as a co-applicant! 🎉💰

  • Congrats to Filsan on her oral presentation, and Christina and Elia from Dr. Min Hyung Ryu’s lab on their poster presentations at the Vancouver 3D Tissue Modelling Symposium! All three also received highly competitive trainee travel awards. 🎉

  • Congrats to Dr. Osei on receiving the Irving K. Barber Faculty of Science Outreach Award for sustained contributions to community outreach! 🎉

  • Congrats to Filsan and Tak on receiving travel grants to present their research at the prestigious 17th Annual Pacific Northwest Epithelial Biology Meeting in Seattle, Washington! 🎉

  • Tak presented his summer research on multicellular primary nasal and cell-line-derived alveolar organoids at the Undergraduate Research Award Summer Student Symposium.

  • Led by Tony J.F. Guo, our latest study introduces a tri-culture alveolar-like organoid model that captures distinct injury and fibrotic responses, supporting research into lung scarring and potential therapies.

  • Congrats to Tak as well, who was awarded both an Irving K. Barber Faculty of Science Undergraduate Research Award (URA) and a CIHR Undergraduate Student Research Award (USRA) supervised by Drs Osei and Ryu of the Air Pollution Exposure Lab (APEL). 🎉

  • Tak was also one of the highest-ranked applicants in the NSERC USRA competition.

  • The Osei lab was invited to represent the Faculty of Science at UBCO Homecoming, where we showcased bioprinters, bio-printed models, and a bio-printed microfluidic setup, and achieved high engagement with alumni, faculty, students, and the broader community.

  • Janaeya presented at the IKB Faculty of Science Undergraduate Research Symposium - Summer 2025.
